Cork is one of our most fashionable and most comfortable floor-covering options. Crafted from the bark of the cork oak tree in Portugal, cork has been used in flooring for over one hundred years: its natural cushioning effect makes it ideal for extensive standing and walking, and its unique texture makes it a particularly beautiful choice. For this reason, cork has been the choice of top designers and architects like Frank Lloyd Wright and McKim Mead and White since its first introduction. Despite its pliability, cork flooring is more resilient than wood when appropriately treated. Cork tiles may be waxed or sanded, stained and varnished for a natural but durable look; it is also available clad in vinyl for areas that have heavy moisture- such as kitchens.
